  1. OLD BUSINESS
  1. Cemetery

Sturdevant stated that he had received the information from Grabowski for the “Wet and Forget” solution. This product is available at Menard’s and can be used to clean headstones. Sturdevant stated that he had contacted Jones Monument inquiring if there were any companies that would level headstones like the ones that level driveways and sidewalks by pumping a solution in the ground under the concrete. Sturdevant was told that they have not heard of any company yet doing this for headstones.

  1. NEW BUSINESS

  1. Future Projects

Sturdevant stated that he had talked to supervisor Usakowski and inquired if it was in the budget to have the paved driveway at Caswell Cemetery replaced. Usakowski informed Sturdevant that there are not available funds this year, but to get some bids so that it can go on next year’s project list. Wrubel asked the cemetery board if they have ever considered putting in a “Scatter Garden” at Caswell Cemetery. Sturdevant stated that at the MTA conferences that the cemetery board attended they were introduced to the idea. The ideal plan would be to develop the island in the new section to have walking trails and a spot for a Scatter Garden. On these walking trails, memorial benches could be placed and a berm could be created for a Scatter Garden. Sturdevant stated that at the conferences, the idea was to find something for your cemetery that would generate revenue that would then pay for needed improvements. Sturdevant stated that the cemetery board was informed by previous administrations that the township cemetery was only here to be a service to the township residents and was never intended to generate its own income. The township board of trustees would have to change the cemetery ideals so that it could generated its own income. Wrubel stated that she will continue to search for possible Federal Grants.
