REGULAR MEETING

                 MAY 17, 2022

6:30 P.M.

Usakowski opened the meeting at 6:30 p.m. with the Pledge of Allegiance.

ROLL CALL OF OFFICERS: Usakowski, Jackson, Wrubel, Hoffman, Deland and Ward.

ABSENT: None.

  1. APPROVAL OF AGENDA

    Wrubel motioned to approve the agenda as presented supported by Jackson.

    Motion Carried.

  1. PRESENTATION OF MINUTES FOR MAY 03, 2022

    Jackson, page 4, we get $290,000.00 of that money and of that money plus we get $80,000.00 in Administration Fees.

    Deland motion to approve the minutes of May 3, 2022 as amended supported by Hoffman. Motion Carried.

Jackson motioned to approve the disbursement of $134,976.52 to pay the bills supported by Wrubel.

Dennis McCallom, 702 Allen Road: Was wondering if you have any knowledge of the 14 acres I asked about at last month’s meeting?

Usakowski: I haven’t heard anything on the property yet. No one has come to the township about it.

    1. New Trustee Appointment

    Usakowski mentioned that we had seven residents express interest in serving on the Board of Trustees.

    Jamie Thiel: Questions asked and answered.

    Megan Bowen: Questions asked and answered.

    Shelly Gilbert: Questions asked and answered.

    Scott Pontack: Questions asked and answered.

    Kristina Nelson: Questions asked and answered.

    Discussion.

    Hoffman motioned to hire Kristina Nelson to the Board of Trustees as a Trustee supported by Deland.

    ROLL CALL VOTE: YES: Hoffman, Deland, Ward and Jackson. NO: Wrubel and Usakowski. ABSENT: None. (4-2-0) Motion Carried.

    Usakowski: Advised applicant’s selection of Kristina Nelson for the new trustee. There is now an opening on the Zoning Board of Appeals if anyone is interested. We will be posting it tomorrow.

    1. DPW Part-Time Summer Hire

    Wrubel, Jackson and Jason interviewed applicants today. We decided that Tyler Johns would be a good fit for the DPW and he will start on June 1st, and will be done the end of August when he goes back to school.

    1. I.T. RIGHT (VC3 Company)

    Usakowski explained the technology of this system and suggested that we move forward with this for at least a year.

    Usakowski motioned to approve the IT Right (VC3 Company) for a year supported by Wrubel.

    1. Fire Contracts for St. Clair and Clyde Townships

    Usakowski explained that Jackson has worked out the budget for these.

    Jackson motioned to approve the fire contract figures for St. Clair Township of $24,708.99 supported by Wrubel.

    ROLL CALL VOTE: YES: Jackson, Wrubel, Hoffman, Deland, Ward and Usakowski. NO: None. ABSENT: None. (6-0-0) Motion Carried.

    Wrubel motioned to approve the fire contract figures for Clyde Township of $22,067.00 supported by Jackson.

    ROLL CALL VOTE: YES: Wrubel, Jackson, Ward, Deland, Hoffman and Usakowski. NO: None. ABSENT: None. (6-0-0) Motion Carried.

  2. AUDIENCE PARTICIPATION

    Scott Pontac, 6823 Raven Court: Complaining about the junk yard on Sturdevant and Dove. They are parking cars in the road.

    Usakowski: We have ticketed him five times and the sheriff has been out there this week. He is working with someone and they have crushed and removed 120 cars so far.

IX.    OFFICERS REPORT

  1. Supervisor Usakowski

We do have the banners for our Fallen Veterans hanging in the meeting room at our township office. They will be hung outside our office this week and we did get a grant to purchase hardware for hanging them outside. They will be up for two weeks.

ARPA: We have gotten about 75 responses to the survey. The main concerns were the roads.

  1. Clerk Wrubel

The newsletter went out last Thursday.

The Veteran Flag Placement will be on the 26th of this month.

Spring foundations are done at the cemetery.

There have been three water main breaks this past week.

Spring clean-up is this Saturday. I still need someone to help out from 1 to 3 p.m. checking I.D’s. Shelley Gilbert offered.

Tomorrow at the cemetery, we will have a company out there patching the driveway.

Discussing the Flow Meter.

Deland motioned to approve the Flow Meter testing supported by Hoffman.

The DPW will be working over at the airport on the manhole covers. We are going to be purchasing a portable cement mixer.

Audit is coming up.

Gave an update on the finances.

  1. Trustee Hoffman

    Weren’t we supposed to get the remainder of the ARPA money last week?

    Jackson: We haven’t gotten it yet.

  1. Trustee Deland

Questioned about the Whispering Winds subdivision.

Usakowski explained.

Deland: Asked about a camera truck out at Allen and Smiths Creek Roads.

Wrubel: We are trying to find a blockage.

Discussion.

Deland: Gravel Train Truck caused some damage taking the corner on Richmond Road. Who gets billed for the damage?

Usakowski: The gravel train company would be billed probably by DTE Energy.

  1. Trustee Ward

When can the photographer come in the office on Friday to set up for the photo shoot? The photographer said he can do any time after 10 a.m. I figured we could do it while the office is open.

Usakowski: Okay.

Ward: I am a little concerned about the clean-up and having the kids coming in for pictures.

Usakowski explained how it will be setup.

Green Lawn will be back at the end of the month to spray for mosquitos at the park.

Ward brought up about the wheel chair accommodations at the park.
