A community center was one of the four focus areas of our recently completed Strategic Plan. Although the Township Board understands that building a community center is current not within our reach, activities that would generally be housed in such a facility can be accommodated in other ways.
For the past several weeks as many as a dozen senior citizens have gathered at the township office for an afternoon of cards and fellowship. The event has been taking place each Thursday from 2:00-4:00 and all senior citizens are invited to attend.
To facilitate additional space for other community center type activities, the Township has been remodeling the back room of the library. New drywall is now covering the old paneling, and the drywall has been painted. This week new carpeting will be installed along with new flooring in the foyer area. This will allow this room to be used for library programming and community events.
