On January 16, 2024, the Michigan Department of Environment, Great Lakes, and Energy (EGLE) issued its sixth violation notice to the Smiths Creek Landfill. This notice was a response to alleged environmental violations at the landfill. The violation notice was issued by the air quality control division.
In accordance with EGLE’s directives, the Smiths Creek Landfill was given until February 6, 2024, to provide a comprehensive response to address the issues raised in the violation notice.
The response submitted by the landfill provides detailed information about the alleged violations and outlines the corrective actions taken by the landfill management.
