Last week the landfill completed the installation of a new gas interceptor at the Smiths Creek Landfill. The interceptor in cell 8 will allow for the landfill to collect more gas. The vacuum on the line will gradually be increased. We are hopeful that this will reduce gas emissions from the landfill, and provide some relief to community members experiencing the odors.
Reporting Odors
It is helpful if community members experiencing odors from the landfill, continue to report them. This will assist in knowing the effectiveness of the changes made. Complaints can be filed from our complaints page on the Township website:
