Canadian Trash Background
The St Clair County Landfill contracts with Canadian haulers to bring in solid waste from Canada. US haulers pay $32.50 per ton for solid waste disposal. The Canadian haulers are charged amounts based on contracts agreed to by the county. The rates can vary by contract but are generally about 1/2 of what local haulers pay for municipal solid waste.
The landfill currently provides this large discounted rate to four Canadian trash haulers:
