Regular Meeting

April 12, 2022

7:00 P.M.

Belesky opened the meeting at 7:00 p.m. with the Pledge of Allegiance.

 

ROLL CALL OF MEMBERS:
Belesky, Sturdevant, Strait, Orr and Crowe.

 


  1. APPROVAL OF AGENDA

    Sturdevant motioned to approve the agenda as presented supported by Belesky. Motion Carried.

     


  2. NEW BUSINESS

    Public Hearing opened at 7:01 p.m.

     

    1. PUBLIC HEARING: Variance: Gojcaj (2159 Wadhams Road) 74-25-010-3004-200 / 74-25-010-3004-300

    Gojcaj, 2159 Wadhams Road: Request for variance to add a garage for equipment. There is a house in front that has been redone and would be for the caretaker. It is only 550 square foot. I would like to add a 22 foot by 40 foot garage and leave the caretaker house.

 

Sturdevant: This should go back to the Planning Commission because the Site Plan has changed.

 

Discussion.

 

Sturdevant motioned to close the Public Hearing Variance at 7:20 p.m. supported by Orr. Motion Carried.

 

Belesky: It doesn’t warrant the variance because he still hasn’t completed what is on his Site Plan.

 

Erickson: He couldn’t add to his Site Plan until he got the variance.

 

Orr: The building should have been torn down. That was the agreement we had.

 

Erickson: Planning cannot approve that Site Plan until they get a variance.

 

Discussion.

 

Sturdevant motioned to have the house torn down supported by Orr.

ROLL CALL VOTE: YES: Sturdevant, Orr, Belesky, Crowe and Strait.

NO: None. ABSENT: None. (5-0-0) Motion Carried.

  1. Temporary Dwelling: Kasprus (5616 Griswold Road) 74-25-535-0010-000

Ruth Kasprus, 5616 Griswold: The house burned down. I bought the house in 2009 and my son was renting it. He had rental insurance. I am requesting for a fifth wheel as a temporary dwelling until they can rebuild. We are waiting for the approval to tear the house down to rebuild.

 

Discussion.

 

Belesky doesn’t have a problem with this request. Insurance company delays are inevitable.

 

Sturdevant motioned to approve a temporary dwelling, contingent upon building permit, demo permit, and $1,000 bond. If not completed in the first year, the permit will be revoked supported by Orr.

 

ROLL CALL VOTE: YES: Sturdevant, Orr, Crowe, Strait and Belesky.

NO: None. ABSENT: None. (5-0-0) Motion Carried.

 

  1. Class A Designation: Cavis (5625 Lapeer Road) 74-25-003-2004-000

Roberta Rasmusson from Bershire and Hathoway, 50057 Harbor View Drive, New Baltimore, MI. I sold the Cavis house and will need to get a reclassification in case of a fire.

 

Sturdevant explained Class A designation.

 

Belesky motioned to approve the Class A Designation for 5625 Lapeer Road supported by Orr.

 

ROLL CALL VOTE: YES: Belesky, Orr, Crowe, Strait and Sturdevant.

NO: None. ABSENT: None. (5-0-0) Motion Carried.

 


  1. OLD BUSINESS

    Sturdevant: The Class A request from last meeting was retracted.

     

    Erickson: M.C. Shine looks like they are going to purchase the building and turn it into a commercial company.

     


  2. APPROVAL OF THE MINUTES-REGULAR MEETING MARCH 8, 2022

    Orr motioned to approve the minutes of March 8, 2022 supported by Crowe.


    Motion Carried.

 


  1. AUDIENCE PARTICIPATION

  1. OFFICERS REPORTS
    1. Sturdevant: Board of Trustees

    Discussed funds for Covid and potential uses.

    Orr inquired about Sparling Road improvement timeline.

     

    Sturdevant: The Township purchased a Gator for the Fire Department as an off- road vehicle.

 


  1. Orr: Planning Commission

    Neighbor has concerns with soil removal project. House in front issues with Hyde. Landscape pond will be completed once the ground has dried out and can be graded.

 

Discussion regarding marijuana issue as a Home Occupation Permit.

 

Asked question about Miss Dig flags at Griswold Road.

 

Wrubel: That is for the location of Semco gas line.

    Orr motioned to adjourn the meeting at 7:40 p.m. supported by Sturdevant.
