Motion by Bennett to accept as presented, supported by Wagar.

Motion Carried

  1. OLD BUSINESS

  1. Pricing of Graves

Sturdevant was not able to contact any other surrounding townships for the prices of grave sites. Wagar suggested contacting Lambs. Sturdevant will try to get the information for both Lambs and Mt. Pleasant cemeteries in Wales Township.

  1. Payment Plan for Graves

Sturdevant stated that Clerk Hand informed him that the previous administration had approved the sale of grave sites on a payment plan. This is not a township policy and will not continue. Clerk Hand wanted to know how this should be handled. Wagar suggested that the first step would be to contact the grave purchaser of the empty graves by sending them a registered letter. The letter would state to get in contact with the township clerk within thirty days. The clerk would inform the purchaser that this was not a township policy and the entire purchase price must be paid in full within one year. Wagar suggested that if a payment is missed then the ownership of the empty grave revert back to the township. With proper documentation and receipts the amount paid so far could be refunded to the said purchaser.

  1. NEW BUSINESS

  1. Capital Outlay

Sturdevant stated that Supervisor Usakowski informed him that approximately $30,000 was approved for next year’s budget. Usakowski would like the cemetery board to discuss how the money should be used. The cemetery board decided that the money should be used to clear part of the new property behind Caswell Cemetery and move the existing fence further back. Then start developing the site for future cemetery plots.
